Visited in October 2009. On the far reaches of Church Road, nearly opposite Hove Tandoori.
A Sri Lankan place - possibly the only one in the town (ITS NOT A CITY) of Brighton and Hove.
We had a predinner beer (not bad Harvey's) in The Seafield - a small unreconstructed pub along the road. We bought some dodgy DVDs (that kind of place).
Clean modern restaurant with table mats and napkins from a great shop in Colombo called Barefoot.
The starters were a bit bland and disappointing - pepper filled with shrimp, Squid filled with veg and tough dumplings.
Mains were much better - tuna curry - hot, coconutty; devilled shrimp - sweet and sour; cabbage mumbal, rice hoppers and roti. Washed down with big bottles of Lion lager. Pudding was a tough but tasty Sri Lankan pancake with a coconut and aniseed filling and wattalapan - a harder version of creme caramel.
Service was friendly and efficient.
£26/head.
4 out of 5.
